Alan Jackson’s Announcement on his Marriage after 43 years

Alan Jackson is a beloved country music legend who has captivated audiences for over four decades with his unique blend of traditional country and honky tonk music. The 64-year-old singer has sold more than 80 million records, became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017.

However, Alan has also faced his fair share of tragedies in recent years. Last year, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with a degenerative nerve disorder. This diagnosis came after the death of his son-in-law, Ben Selecman, in a tragic boating accident in 2018. The loss of Ben has deeply affected Alan and his family, and they are still mourning his absence.

Ben was married to Mattie Jackson Selecman, Alan’s daughter. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Ben lost his life while trying to assist a woman onto a boat. Despite immediate medical attention, he passed away due to severe head injuries. Those who knew Ben describe him as a rising star and will deeply miss his sense of humor and dedication.

The loss of Ben has played a significant role in inspiring Alan Jackson’s recent albums, “Angels & Alcohol” released in 2015, and “Where Have You Gone” released earlier this year. These albums reflect Alan’s journey through grief and loss, and the healing process he and his family have endured.

Amidst this tragedy, Alan has been a pillar of support for his daughter Mattie. Together, they even co-wrote a song called “Racing the Dark,” which captures their pain and the strength they have found in each other. Fans can download the song by purchasing Mattie’s upcoming book, “Lemons on Friday: Trusting God Through My Greatest Heartbreak.” In her book, Mattie opens up about her experience and how her faith helped her heal. She also shares how her suffering led her to co-found NaSHEville, a business empowering women in Music City.

Alan’s personal health has also been a challenge for him. He recently revealed that he has been dealing with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a degenerative nerve ailment. The illness affects his ability to walk and maintain balance, making performing on stage more difficult. Despite these challenges, Alan remains determined to continue touring and sharing his music with his fans.

It’s clear that Alan Jackson and his family have faced immense hardships, but they continue to persevere and find strength in each other. We send our prayers and support to Alan, his family, and all those who have been touched by his music.
