High School Resource Officer Bids Farewell with Epic Dance Moves (VIDEO)

At Don Lugo High School, students and staff were in for an unforgettable surprise when School Resource Officer Ryan Tillman decided to make his departure in the most entertaining way possible—by breaking into an energetic dance routine.

Tillman, who had served at the school for a year and a half, quickly formed strong bonds with students and faculty alike. Initially, he had a different perception of what being a school resource officer entailed.

“I always thought people saw school resource officers as just sitting in an office, eating doughnuts, and being grumpy with students,” Tillman shared. “But once I got here, I realized it was so much more. You’re constantly engaged, you’re a mentor, and you really become part of the school community.”

After receiving a promotion to Chino Police Corporal, Tillman knew he had to leave in a way that truly reflected his time at Don Lugo High.

“I didn’t want to just walk away—I wanted to go out with a bang,” he said. “And what better way than to dance?”

With the help of the school’s dance team and principal, Tillman put together a lively performance that took place during a special assembly. His unexpected dance moves brought cheers from the crowd, leaving a lasting impression on the students he had grown to care for deeply.

“I wasn’t trying to go viral,” Tillman said with a smile. “I just wanted to be myself.”
