MTG Says Trump Focused on Crypto Donors Over Voters Who ‘Waited in the Rain’

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has once again aimed at President Donald Trump, doubling down on recent criticism of his policies on trade, immigration, and his overall focus since returning to the White House.

In a new interview with comedian Tim Dillon, Greene said Trump’s trade and tariff strategy is designed to benefit “crypto donors” and wealthy backers rather than the voters who carried him to victory.

“I’m talking to major manufacturing companies that are saying we support the president, we support what he’s trying—his long-term goal—but we’re having problems with these tariffs,” Greene said. “We can’t get supplies from this country, and we can’t get supplies for this country, and there’s problems.”

She continued, “But has the stress come off regular people’s bank accounts? No, that has not happened yet, and that needs to be the major focus. It shouldn’t be about helping your crypto donors or your AI donors or welcoming in these people that hated you and spent money to try to beat you, but all of a sudden are excited to come out to the new Rose Garden patio. That shouldn’t be the focus.”

Greene — whose recent comments have drawn praise from left-leaning media — said the president has drifted away from the voters who waited hours in line at rallies to support him.

“The focus should be the people that showed up at the rallies, stood there for freaking 18 hours trying to get in the rain, in the cold, in the 100-degree heat,” she said. “Those are the ones I care about. Those are the ones that voted for not only the president, but every single Republican that gave us power. I don’t think those people are being served.”

The Georgia Republican’s comments mark another escalation in her public split with Trump, coming just days after she blamed the ongoing partial government shutdown on her own party — a claim that Democrats quickly embraced.

Her criticism has earned Greene rare praise from Democrats and liberal commentators who previously branded her as an extremist.

Slate published an article titled “Marjorie Taylor Greene, Welcome to the Resistance,” celebrating her recent remarks.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) echoed Greene’s words, saying, “Marjorie Taylor Greene acknowledges this fight is about the health care of the American people.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) added, “Get back to work. Hash this out over health care. I agree with Marjorie Taylor Greene. These are Republicans and Democrats that need these subsidies.”

Elsewhere in her interview, Greene also criticized the administration’s approach to immigration, arguing that some illegal labor is necessary in key industries — a stance that surprised many of her conservative supporters.

“As a conservative and as a business owner in the construction industry, and as a realist, I can say we have to do something about labor, and that needs to be a smarter plan than just rounding up every single person and deporting them,” she said. “If anybody’s mad at me for saying the truth, then I’m sorry.”

Greene, whose net worth is estimated at over $24 million, said her comments reflect “reality” and not political calculation.

In August, she told The Daily Mail that her time with the Republican Party may be coming to an end.

“I don’t know if the Republican Party is leaving me, or if I’m kind of not relating to the Republican Party as much anymore. I don’t know which one it is,” Greene told the outlet.
