Michelle Obama Speaks Out on Barack Split Rumors

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has addressed the divorce rumors surrounding her marriage to former President Barack Obama.

During an episode of NPR’s Wild Card with Rachel Martin, Michelle Obama dispelled divorce rumors.

“Even in this phase in our lives, when Barack and I say something right or wrong, it does get covered. You know, the fact that people don’t see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage. I mean, it’s sort of…” Michelle Obama said.

“It’s the apocalypse. It’s like, OK, so we don’t Instagram every minute of our lives. We are 60. We’re 60, y’all. We just, you just are not gonna know what we’re doing every minute of the day, you know?” Michelle Obama added.

Michelle Obama was once again spotted without her husband last week, continuing a pattern that has only fueled public speculation about their relationship.

The former First Lady vacationed in Mallorca with daughters Malia and Sasha. The trio was photographed dining at the Lobster Club in Puerto Portals, Calvià, earlier this week, but Barack Obama was noticeably absent, as he has been at many of her recent outings, the New York Post reported.

Michelle looked stylish in a colorful printed dress and hoop earrings, while Sasha, 24, wore an off-the-shoulder white t-shirt and a flowy brown skirt. Malia, 26, chose a navy blue polka dot top and denim mini skirt for the family lunch.

Joining them were James Costos, former U.S. ambassador to Spain, and his partner Michael Smith, the Obamas’ longtime interior designer who famously redesigned the Oval Office in 2010.

The relaxed, glamorous lunch took place at an exclusive seaside venue complete with live music, an infinity pool, and sweeping Mediterranean views.

Barack was once again missing from the family getaway, just as he has been absent from several other major public events in recent months, including President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and even President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Michelle tried to downplay growing rumors of marital trouble last month during an appearance on “The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett.”

“That’s not who we are,” she insisted. “And I know that about him. He knows that about me.” She also stressed that the couple, married for 32 years, would never “quit” on their marriage.

Last month, Michelle Obama made a casual remark about being single during a recent episode of her podcast, fueling ongoing speculation about possible strain in her marriage to former President Barack Obama.

Michelle was joined by her brother, Craig Robinson, and Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky on the latest episode of her show, IMO [In My Opinion], when she appeared to express a hint of personal interest in the tech executive.

“You know, I have to say, Brian, if I’m a single girl out there and I find out that Brian Chesky is single and I could like stay in his house -” she began before Robinson cut in.

“Here she goes, right to the relationship!” Robinson said, adding: “Brian, you don’t have to feel pressure.”

Chesky, however, played right along, noting, “Her and her husband have tried to set me up before.”

That led the former first lady to say she was “very invested in Brian’s love life,” to which he said he “appreciated.”

The unusual exchange comes amid persistent speculation about the state of Michelle and Barack Obama’s marriage—fueled in part by the former First Lady’s notable absences from both President Donald Trump’s inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter.

Adding to the chatter, Barack Obama recently acknowledged that he is in a “deep deficit with my wife” and has been working to plan enjoyable activities for the two of them. Michelle, for her part, has publicly voiced frustrations with her husband, citing his past habit of being late and his tendency to avoid meaningful conversations with his golf buddies.
