Mexican president states that Trump is not

Global diplomatic tensions reached new heights on Saturday following confirmation from President Donald Trump that the United States has successfully targeted three key nuclear infrastructure sites in Iran, including the heavily fortified facility at Fordow.

The announcement marks a significant escalation in Middle Eastern geopolitics, drawing immediate and sharp condemnation from Tehran while signaling a shift in U.S. strategic engagement in the region.

A “Historic Moment”

President Trump broke the news via his Truth Social platform, characterizing the military operation as a decisive move intended to force a resolution to ongoing conflicts.

In a statement emphasizing the alliance between the U.S. and Israel, the President described the operation as a “very successful attack.”

“This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR,” Trump posted.

The specific mention of Fordow is particularly significant. Built deep inside a mountain to protect it from aerial bombardment, the facility has long been a focal point of contention regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Tehran Responds: “Everlasting Consequences”

The reaction from the Islamic Republic was swift. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a formal condemnation, warning that the strikes would not go unanswered.

Araghchi described the morning’s events as “outrageous” and warned of “everlasting consequences” for regional stability. His statement appealed directly to the international community, framing the U.S. action as a violation of international law.

“Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior,” Araghchi stated.

Potential for Escalation

The exchange has raised immediate concerns regarding the next steps in the conflict. While President Trump framed the attack as a means to “end this war,” Iranian officials are signaling a preparation for retaliation.

Citing the United Nations Charter, Araghchi made it clear that Tehran views a military response as a legal right.

“In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” he noted.

Global Impact

As news of the strikes spreads, analysts are closely monitoring global energy markets and diplomatic channels. The involvement of nuclear facilities typically triggers heightened volatility in oil prices and prompts emergency sessions within the UN Security Council.

World leaders are expected to release further statements in the coming hours as the extent of the damage to the Fordow site and the two other unnamed facilities becomes clear.
