Silverfish: if This Animal Comes to Your Home

Silverfish are small, wingless insects with silver scales that move quickly

and often inhabit damp, dark areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and basements.

They feed on starch, cellulose, and sugary substances, such as paper, cardboard,

food scraps, and fabrics. Their presence is often a sign of excess moisture in

the home. Although harmless to humans, silverfish can cause damage to documents,

books, clothing, and upholstery. They also reproduce quickly, leading to rapid

infestations if not controlled. To prevent and eliminate silverfish, reduce

humidity by using dehumidifiers and fixing water leaks. Ensure proper ventilation

in damp areas and maintain cleanliness by regularly vacuuming corners
