‘Apocalyptic’: Celebrity homes destroyed by L.A. wildfires

Actress Anna Faris’ $5 million Pacific Palisades residence has been destroyed in the

catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires. It has also come to light that married actors Adam Brody

and Leighton Meester have lost their $6.5 million home to the devastating blaze.

The fires, which began ravaging Pacific Palisades on January 7, have consumed over 15,000 acres

(6,070 hectares) and destroyed more than 1,000 properties. The total extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Over 30,000 residents were forced to evacuate as flames rapidly spread across Malibu and Santa Monica.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency while firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the disaster.

Among the evacuees were several celebrities, many of whom now have no homes to return to.

Heartbreaking photos shared by TMZ show Faris’ $4.9 million mansion, purchased in 2018,

reduced to rubble. The swimming pool in the backyard appears completely dry, likely due to the intense heat evaporating the water.

Additional images published by the New York Post depict Meester and Brody’s Pacific Palisades home engulfed in flames. The roof has caved in, the walls are charred, and smoke continues to billow from the structure.

The couple, who married in 2014, bought their modern five-bedroom, six-bathroom home in 2019. The 6,000-square-foot (557-square-meter) property was described in its listing as having “impeccable” design and “breathtaking ocean views.”

While neither Faris nor the Brody-Meester couple has publicly commented on the destruction of their homes, there is no indication that they were harmed during the fires. It’s assumed they managed to evacuate before the flames reached their properties.

Similarly, Anna Faris, who purchased her Pacific Palisades property following her divorce from Marvel actor Chris Pratt, has not yet made a statement regarding the destruction of her home in the fire.

The high-value properties are just two among many celebrity homes that have been reduced to ashes by the devastating wildfires, which have already claimed at least five lives.

On January 8, reports emerged that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag had also lost their home in Pacific Palisades. Pratt shared updates on social media, calling the experience a “nightmare come true.” One chilling photo from his security camera showed his son’s bedroom engulfed in flames. He also revealed that his parents had lost their home in the blaze.

The wildfires, which were at zero containment at the time of reporting, have destroyed multiple homes, including those belonging to well-known celebrities. James Woods, the Oscar-nominated actor, fled his Palisades home only to later discover it had been destroyed. Ricki Lake shared her heartbreak on Instagram, revealing that her “dream home” had been completely lost.

“I can’t believe I’m writing these words,” Lake posted alongside photos of her and her husband, Ross Burningham, at the property. “Our heaven on earth is gone. This loss is immeasurable. It was where we planned to grow old together, and where we got married three years ago. We never took it for granted.”

She added that the fire left them with little more than their pet Dolly, as they escaped the flames. “Praying for everyone suffering during this apocalyptic event.”

It’s also suspected that the home where “Friends” actor Matthew Perry tragically passed away has been surrounded by flames, as fire maps showed the location engulfed. The full extent of the damage will only be known in the days following the fire’s containment.

Several A-list actors, including Tom Hanks, Ben Affleck, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler, and Miles Teller, own properties in the affected areas. Affleck, who finalized his divorce from Jennifer Lopez last year, was spotted returning to his Pacific Palisades mansion as the fires approached. Images captured by DailyMail.com showed him looking visibly shaken.

Other stars like Mandy Moore, Mark Hamill, and Jamie Lee Curtis have also shared updates on social media. Moore confirmed she and her family evacuated safely with their pets, while Hamill revealed his Malibu home was left behind in a last-minute decision to evacuate.

Jamie Lee Curtis wrote on Instagram that her Santa Monica home might be at risk. “My family is safe, but many of my friends will lose their homes. It’s a terrifying situation, and I’m grateful for the firefighters risking their lives to protect us,” she said.

Curtis urged followers to be cautious about spreading misinformation and emphasized the importance of supporting each other during this crisis. “If there was ever a time to say ‘my hand in yours,’ it’s now. Stay safe, take care of one another, and let the firefighters do their work.”

On Instagram, reality TV star Paris Hilton said she was heartbroken after her family’s Malibu home was believed to have burned down in the fires.

“Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,” she said.

“While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe.”

At the time of publication, AP News reported at least five people had been killed in the fires.
