Former 90s Talk Show Host Looks Completely Different Today

Sally Jessy Raphael, the 89-year-old talk show host who captivated audiences from 1983 to 2002 with her groundbreaking show Sally, remains an iconic figure of 90s daytime television. Known for her signature red reading glasses and bold interviews, she was a staple in many households. However, despite her long-standing fame, Meta—the parent company of Facebook and Instagram—has refused to verify her account, even after she provided multiple forms of proof. Frustrated by impostors using her name, Sally took to social media to demand recognition.

She revealed that an account falsely claiming to be her, under the name “realsallyjr,” has been misleading fans. In a passionate post, she urged her followers to help her secure the verification she deserves, writing: “So, Instagram doesn’t want to give me my blue check—no matter what proof I send them. AND there’s a fake account called ‘realsallyjr,’ and that’s NOT ME! Help me let Instagram know, so we can fix this.”

Despite launching her official Instagram account in April, Sally has struggled to gain traction, currently sitting at fewer than 600 followers. To reconnect with her audience, she has been sharing throwbacks of her most memorable interviews alongside personal glimpses into her present-day life, including vacation snapshots, boat trips, and celebratory meals. Fans, shocked by the  platform’s refusal to verify her, have taken to the comments to express their support. One user wrote, “The Icon, the Legend of daytime TV, Ms. Sally Jessy Raphael needs her blue check mark.

Hello!!!!!” Another fan questioned why such a well-known figure would face this issue, saying, “That’s pretty crazy that someone as famous as you are is having trouble being recognized.” While Sally’s signature red glasses and fiery personality remain unchanged, the fight for her rightful verification has proven to be an unexpected battle—one that her loyal followers are determined to win.
