Tragic Bus Collision Leaves at Least 37 Dead and Many Injured

At least 37 people lost their lives, and dozens more were injured in a tragic head-on collision between two buses in Bolivia. The crash occurred on the route between Uyuni and Colchani in the western Potosí region during the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to a statement from the Departmental Police Command of Potosí, 39 injured passengers were rushed to four hospitals in Uyuni for medical treatment. Authorities are still working to identify the victims, while emergency crews at the scene used a crane to overturn one of the buses, which had rolled onto its side, to recover bodies trapped inside.

Initial investigations suggest that the crash was caused by one of the buses swerving into the oncoming lane, possibly due to speeding. The impact left both vehicles severely damaged, with rescue teams working for hours to assist survivors and retrieve the deceased.

Local officials have called for stricter road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The devastating accident has shocked the community, with families mourning their loved ones as authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the collision.
