David Letterman’s Question That Made Jennifer Aniston Squirm

David Letterman’s Interview with Jennifer Aniston That Left Fans Uncomfortable

David Letterman, once a celebrated figure in late-night television, was known for his sharp wit and charismatic interviews. However, not all of his interactions have aged well—especially when viewed through today’s lens.

One such interview that continues to resurface involved Hollywood icon Jennifer Aniston. While it may have seemed like a typical talk-show moment at the time, watching it now has left many viewers cringing.

The Interview That Made Viewers Uncomfortable

In 2006, Jennifer Aniston appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote her film The Break-Up, a romantic comedy she starred in alongside Vince Vaughn.

From the very beginning, the interview took an uncomfortable turn. Instead of focusing on her film, Letterman repeatedly fixated on Aniston’s legs, offering one compliment after another.

Wearing a black blouse paired with shorts, Aniston quickly became the subject of Letterman’s admiration. “That’s a tremendous outfit,” he remarked before adding, “and the reason that’s a tremendous outfit is because you have tremendous legs. Fantastic legs. You can only wear that if you have lovely, well-shaped, muscular, lengthy legs.”

Aniston, caught off guard, attempted to laugh it off, responding that she had worn shorts simply because of the heat. But Letterman wouldn’t let it go. Later in the conversation, he circled back, adding, “Your legs, you’ve got something there.”

At the time, some fans may have dismissed it as playful banter, but in hindsight, the exchange feels more awkward than charming.

A Pattern of Uncomfortable Moments

This wasn’t the only time Letterman’s behavior toward Aniston raised eyebrows. A now-infamous 1998 interview saw him grabbing her neck and, shockingly, sucking on a strand of her hair.

Visibly unsettled, Aniston wiped her hair with a tissue Letterman handed her, clearly trying to regain composure.

The moment remains one of the strangest exchanges in Late Show history, with many fans questioning how such behavior was ever deemed appropriate on national television.

Aniston’s Graceful Response

Despite these awkward encounters, Aniston always handled herself with poise. She later returned to The Late Showmultiple times, proving her professionalism and ability to navigate even the most uncomfortable situations.

In 2008, two years after Letterman’s “leg” comments, Aniston made another appearance—this time presenting him with a special gift. While promoting Marley & Me, she handed Letterman the very Brooks Brothers tie she had worn in a GQcover shoot.

“This is an early Christmas present,” she said with a smile, helping him put it on.

Letterman, in typical fashion, joked, “Funny, the tie said the same thing during the photoshoot.”

While the moment was lighthearted, it was a stark contrast to their previous interviews—one that reminded viewers of Aniston’s charm and resilience.

Looking Back

As past interviews continue to resurface, moments like these raise important discussions about how women in Hollywood were treated on talk shows in previous decades. While Letterman remains an iconic figure in late-night TV, some of his interviews—particularly those with female celebrities—haven’t aged well.

For Jennifer Aniston, however, these moments are just small blips in a career defined by talent, grace, and enduring success.
