Sending Prayers To Tucker Carlson In This Difficult Time

Tucker Carlson announced the death of his father, Richard “Dick” Warner Carlson, who passed away on Monday at age 84 in Boca Grande, Florida, after a six-week illness. Tucker called him “the toughest person in the world.”

Dick, a former U.S. Ambassador to the Seychelles and Director of Voice of America under Presidents George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, had a long career in government and media. Despite his mysterious work in later years, Dick remained close to his children, having weekly lunches with them for 30 years.

Born in 1941, Dick had a tough early life, spending time in foster homes and an orphanage before being adopted. After overcoming personal struggles, he joined the Marine Corps and became a journalist. He was an investigative reporter and later became known for his work in TV news.

Dick’s relationship with Tucker influenced his son’s life deeply, with Dick ensuring his children were exposed to the realities of his work. Tucker recalls his father’s unique parenting, like taking them to a murder scene to teach them discipline and modesty. Dick passed away holding his children’s hands with his dogs at his feet.

He is survived by his two sons, five grandsons, and many others who admired his life and career.
