Trump Condemns Escalating Conflict in Ukraine, Warns of Consequences for Russia

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly condemned the recent deadly attacks on Ukraine, expressing concern over the rising toll of violence and warning of serious consequences for Russia. His comments followed one of the most intense overnight assaults on Ukraine since the beginning of the war, with nearly 300 drones and 69 missiles reportedly launched on May 24.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported the large-scale attack began at 8:40 p.m. local time, targeting several cities across the country. According to reports, at least 12 people, including three children, lost their lives in the bombardment, and dozens more were injured. The scale of the assault marks a grim milestone in the conflict, now nearing its third year.

In a post on his social media platform, Trump described the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin as “needless killing” and “crazy,” emphasizing that civilians—not just military personnel—are being harmed. “He is needlessly killing a lot of people,” Trump wrote. “Missiles and drones are being shot into cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever.”

Trump also expressed frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, suggesting his public remarks could be worsening tensions. “Everything out of his mouth causes problems,” Trump stated, adding that he believes both sides need to approach the situation more carefully.

Despite the strong language, Trump emphasized that he is focused on de-escalation. “This isn’t my war,” he said. “I’m just trying to help stop the destruction and bring about peace.”

The former president’s comments came shortly after Zelenskyy voiced disappointment in the global response to the recent attacks. Speaking to reporters, the Ukrainian leader said, “America’s silence, and the silence of others in the world, only encourages Putin.”

Trump also hinted at possible action, stating that sanctions against Russia could be on the table if he were in office. “We’re looking at everything,” he said during a press appearance in New Jersey.

Keith Kellogg, Trump’s former envoy for Ukraine, shared an image online showing the aftermath of the strikes in Kyiv. “The indiscriminate killing of women and children is a violation of international protocols,” he wrote. “Ceasefire now.”

As the violence continues, both current and former leaders face increasing pressure to find a path toward resolution. With growing concern for innocent lives caught in the crossfire, the world watches closely, hoping for progress toward peace.
