“I would ask what her background is,” Ernst responded. “I think it takes a variety of talents and expertise to assess and improve the efficiency of government programs. Elon Musk has demonstrated the ability to build and lead complex systems across multiple industries. That kind of experience can be highly valuable when working alongside federal agencies to identify areas of inefficiency.”

Ernst emphasized that Musk is not acting independently but collaborating with agency teams to locate and address inefficiencies. “This isn’t about one person making decisions in a vacuum,” she added. “It’s about having the right tools, the right data, and the right people in the room.”

Trump announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would visit the White House to finalize an agreement that would direct a share of Ukraine’s mineral revenue toward repaying U.S. support provided during the country’s conflict with Russia.

“Ukraine has received significant assistance from us, and this agreement helps ensure that support is respected and balanced over time,” Trump explained.

The President also revealed plans to introduce new tariffs of up to 25% on vehicles and certain imports from European Union countries. He stated that the move aims to address ongoing trade imbalances, particularly in automotive and agricultural sectors.

“They’ve used various restrictions to keep our products out of their markets,” Trump said. “We’re simply asking for fairness.”
