Social Media Reacts to Trump’s Forgetfulness Over Fed Chair Appointment
A video showing President Donald Trump forgetting a major detail has sparked widespread concern about his mental well-being.
Trump Criticizes Powell—But Forgets He Appointed Him
Earlier this week, Trump addressed the press from the Oval Office. He criticized Jerome Powell, Chair of the Federal Reserve, for failing to cut interest rates. Trump said,
“I think [Powell] is doing a terrible job. He is costing us a lot of money.”
He added that Powell’s actions hurt Americans trying to get mortgages and buy homes. Trump expressed surprise that President Joe Biden reappointed Powell for a second term,
“I was surprised frankly that Joe Biden put him in and extended him.”
However, social media users quickly pointed out a major oversight: Trump himself appointed Powell during his first term as president.
Trump’s Awareness and Shift in Blame
During his remarks, Trump appeared to realize his mistake. He shifted blame to Biden, accusing him of reappointing Powell, even though the original appointment was Trump’s decision.
Official Stance on Trump’s Health
Despite growing public concerns, White House doctors have maintained that Trump remains fit and healthy. Earlier this year, they dismissed rumors questioning his mental capacity.
What Does This Mean?
This recent incident has amplified questions about Trump’s cognitive state, especially as he continues to play a high-profile role in national and global affairs. Meanwhile, social media continues to dissect his every word and gesture.
