MTG Says Trump Backs Her Redrawing Districts To Exclude Non-Citizens

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announced on X on Monday that President Donald Trump backs her bill calling for an immediate new census to exclude non-citizens from the population counts used for congressional districting.

“I just got off the phone with President Trump!!” wrote Greene on X, adding, “I told him about my new bill I am introducing that will save America’s elections from ever being stolen again! My bill will require the U.S. Census Bureau to conduct a new census immediately upon enactment of the bill. In conducting the new census of the U.S. population, it shall require questions determining the citizenship of each individual, and count US citizens only.”

“Upon completion of the census, the bill will direct states to immediately begin a redistricting of all U.S. House seats process using only the population of United States citizens,” she continued.

“Thank you President Trump for your strong support of my bill, Making American Elections Great Again!!! Let’s get this done!!!” she concluded.

The next U.S. census isn’t scheduled until 2030, with redistricting set to begin in 2031.

In May 2024, the House passed a similar bill aimed at excluding non-citizens from the census count, but the measure stalled in the then-Democratic-controlled Senate. Historically, the U.S. Constitution has been interpreted by courts to include counting non-citizens for apportionment, rooted in the controversial compromise between North and South that counted enslaved individuals as “three-fifths” of a person.

After the Civil War and the ratification of the 14th Amendment, the Constitution was amended to require counting the “whole number of persons in each state.”

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) advocated for the bill, stating that Republicans believe it will lead to gaining more seats for their party.

“Some states end up with greater representation in Congress based on a higher concentration of noncitizens,” Comer said then. “This dilutes the ‘one person, one vote’ principle for citizens in states with fewer noncitizens. It is clear that Congress can and should ensure a fair apportionment based on equal representation of citizens.”

On Monday, the GOP-controlled House passed a measure over the objections of a majority of Democrats that would require the federal government to deport any illegal immigrant who assaults a police officer.

The legislation passed by a vote of 265 to 148, with 54 Democrats siding with Republicans. The bill is called the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act, which was authored by Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J.

“There is no reason that an illegal alien who attacks our law enforcement should remain in our country; that shows zero respect for our rule of law or our institutions, and they will not be positive contributors to society,” Van Drew said.

The bill mandates that federal authorities hold illegal immigrants in custody until deportation. It also establishes a new category of migrant inadmissibility, specifically targeting illegal immigrants accused of assaulting police, according to Van Drew.

After the bill passed, Rep. Tom Emmer, the House Majority Whip and No. 3 Republican, said, “House Democrats just voted to protect violent, illegal immigrants over our brave law enforcement officers. Once again, the Democrat Party proves they are the most anti-law enforcement party in history.”

Meanwhile, a stunning new poll from CNN shows the Democratic Party lagging far behind the Republicans when it comes to economic issues, which appeared to shock CNN data guru Harry Enten.

After months of the Democrats and their media allies trying to scare Americans about Trump’s tariff proposals, the data analyst was taken aback by the failure of their propaganda.

“You would think, after all of the waves, Kate Bolduan, after the last few months, the first five months of the Donald Trump presidency, right, the first four months of the Donald Trump presidency, that you’d expect that Democrats would have this massive lead on the economy. It ain’t so. It ain’t so,” he said to the CNN host.
