KJP Stopped Cold By Question From MSNBC On Biden’s Mental Acuity

Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre appeared caught off guard when MSNBC anchor Elise Jordan questioned her about former President Joe Biden’s “mental acuity” during an interview on “The Weekend: Primetime” on Saturday night.

Jordan asked whether Jean-Pierre regretted criticizing Special Counsel Robert Hur following the release of his 2024 report, which raised concerns about Biden’s memory and cognitive ability.

Citing Biden’s widely scrutinized June 2024 debate with former President Donald Trump, Jordan pressed Jean-Pierre on why she had dismissed Hur’s findings at the time as “gratuitous” and disconnected from “reality.”

“Robert Hur was unemployable for a period because of the attacks from the Democrats and from the White House that you were at the podium leading,” Jordan said. “Have you apologized to Robert Hur?”

The question left Jean-Pierre visibly stunned as she struggled for an answer.

“I mean…look… what I can say to you is, I saw the president every single day. It wasn’t one-offs, it wasn’t once in a while, I saw him every day,” Jean-Pierre responded.

As Jean-Pierre continued to stuggle, Jordan hopped back in to press the former Biden official further on the subject of Hur, noting that she had “pretty sharp comments” about the onetime special counsel and asking again if she had regrets about what she had said at the time.

Jean-Pierre said flatly that she did not have regrets, claiming again that she saw Biden wake up every day, for years, “very zeroed in and focused on” delivering for the American public – despite the fact that he obviously struggled to be coherent on multiple occasions.

“I was called into the Oval Office on a daily basis. I traveled with him for 95% of the time,” Jean-Pierre said. “And so, I’m speaking for myself here. I’m speaking for what I saw, and that was why I pushed back.”

Later in the segment, co-host Ayman Mohyeldin asked Jean-Pierre whether she had “any regrets” about her previous statements during her time as White House press secretary.

Jean-Pierre, now sporting straight long light brown hair with highlights, said she of course did not get everything right, adding that the question could not be answered with a simple yes or on.

She added she was proud “as a black woman who is queer” – as if that has anything to do with the line of questioning – to have served as the press secretary, and that she was “very proud” of everything she did for the Biden Administration.

Jean-Pierre appeared before the House Oversight Committee in September for a high-profile interview on whether senior aides sought to conceal signs of mental decline in Biden.

Now a Democrat-turned-Independent, she did not speak to reporters before entering the closed-door, transcribed interview, which began at 10 a.m. and was expected to continue into the afternoon.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) was probing whether White House officials sought to conceal Biden’s mental and physical decline, and whether any executive actions were signed by autopen without the then-president’s full awareness.

“We intentionally wanted Jean-Pierre to be one of the last people we bring in,” Comer told reporters on his way to the deposition. He added that investigators were especially interested in the contents of her new book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines.”

“This is a serious investigation about the legality of the use of the autopen, the excessive use of the autopen, and whether or not Joe Biden had any idea who was using the autopen and what the autopen was used to sign, with respect to legal documents,” Comer said.
